Worcester Cathedral is one of the most significant monastic cathedrals in the country. It’s not only the burial place of King John and Prince Arthur, but has also been described as “possibly the most interesting of all England’s cathedrals, especially architecturally.”
The project brief was to design a refreshed welcome leaflet, complete with a fold-out map of the cathedral. My proposal was to create an illustrated map that highlights key historical and architectural features, making it engaging for visitors of all ages while also serving as a memorable keepsake of their visit.
For the leaflet itself, I developed a clean and contemporary layout that remained true to the cathedral’s corporate colours. With such a wealth of information to include, my focus was on creating a design that felt cohesive, clear and visually inviting.

The East Window was the one of the drawings I found most challenging. It’s incredibly intricate, filled with so many images that I honestly wasn’t sure where to begin.
One quiet morning while I was sketching in the cathedral, I started chatting with a member of the clergy. He shared what he felt was the most meaningful part of the stained glass window, so that’s what I chose to draw.
